Kardinal Offishall & Local Musicians Rock Orlando To Fight Hunger This Saturday

Since we have started The Central Florida Community Guide we have had several requests from residents to find out how they can help out specific causes. Well we have a great opportunity for the community to help fight the homeless issues in Central Florida while having a great time doing it!
On Saturday November 15th, Rock For Hunger & XL 106.7 FM will be hosting the 3rd annual Rock For Hunger Fest at the Plaza Theater in Orlando. This show will feature national recording artist Kardinal Offishall as well as over 20 other regional & local bands on 3 stages and will help to raise money and awareness to fight the homelessness issues in Orlando. In addition to all of the great music the festival will also feature a block party & over 25 local artists who will be displaying and selling their work.

This all day all ages show begins at 1pm and features a wide range of musical acts and activities for any fan. The tickets are only $10 in advance and $20 at the door. Did you know that one $10 ticket will feed 40 people?! The average American spends at least $10 going out to lunch, so pack your lunch for just one day and you can help 40 other people. That is truly paying it forward!
Rock for Hunger was started by an inspired group of UCF students who realized that through the power of music they had an opportunity to bring awareness to the community about the growing problem of poverty in the Central Florida area. The annual Rock for Hunger Festival is not the only event that the group participates in to make a difference.

Every Monday night at Lake Eola, Rock For Hunger holds a weekly food sharing in which they feed and interact with over 150 homeless Orlando residents. They also conduct a Tutor & Meals program Monday – Friday to help K – 8th Graders with homework, tutoring as well as recreational and relational activities. They have partnered with the New Image Youth Center and hope to end the cycle of homelessness by starting with the children. Rock For Hunger has also been instrumental in helping homeless residents find employment through their job training and adult education classes.
